PSon limestone and clay soils 400 meters above sea level with a southern exposure, stand the vineyards that give rise to Chiusa di Pennone. A "lock" was defined as a very narrow olive grove often bordered by stone walls. So was the Chiusa di Pannone, while today it is the single vineyard used exclusively for the wine of the same name.
