The name comes from the locality Murello in San Gemini. The 3- to 5-year-old vineyards are planted on a 230-above-sea-level clayey-calcareous soil. Harvested by hand, the grapes are spontaneously fermented for 20 days in French oak barrels, aged on the fine lees for 6 months and then bottled where the wine remains for another 6-8 months.
