L'Albereta takes its name from the vineyard where the Vernaccia di San Gimignano grapes are grown; the tufaceous soil is located in the Sienese hills near San Gimignano. The grapes are grown organically and the bunches are harvested when fully ripe, with rigorous selection in the winery before vinification, which takes place at a controlled temperature.

L'Albereta prende il nome dal vigneto dove le uve di Vernaccia di San Gimignano vengono coltivate, il terreno tufaceo si trova sulle colline senesi nei pressi di San Gimignano. La coltivazione delle uve viene fatta in modo biologico e i grappoli vengono raccolti a piena maturazione, con una rigorosa selezione in cantina prima della vinificazione che avviene a temperatura controllata.

Vernaccia di San Gimignano is a grape variety that grows mainly near the Tuscan town of San Gimignano. It is first mentioned in 1276 in the "ordinamento di gabella" and was the favorite wine of Lorenzo de Medici, the church and the most important people at the time. Ludovico il Moro had two hundred flasks of Vernaccia di San Gimignano shipped for his son's wedding to Isabella, daughter of King Alfonso II of Naples. DNA studies have found that Vernaccia di San Gimignano is identical to the Piccabon that grows in Liguria, the region from which Vernaccia di San Gimignano is thought to have originated. The grape variety is characterized by a large, compact, pyramidal cluster with medium-sized oval berries and a rather thick skin.

The vineyards stand at altitudes between 350 and 390 meters, on limestone soils with sand and clay, and are cultivated organically. During vinification, the must undergoes a brief pellicular maceration and then ferments spontaneously in steel and ages in cement tanks in contact with the fine lees with frequent bâtonnage.
