The Uvalino vine is a very hardy and rustic variety, and according to genetic studies it is related to Neretto di Marengo. Uvalino belongs to the rare grape family; the correct name would be Uvarino, but due to the fact that in the Asti dialect the letter "r" is almost never pronounced, the name is commonly known as Uvalino.
