Polvanera 17 is made from Primitivo grapes, an ancient variety that gives its fullest expression in this wine.  Vines more than 70 years old are grown as small trees on loamy, clayey soils in the Gioia del Colle area, 300 meters above sea level in the Montevella vineyard.
