Pelaverga di Verduno is also called Pelaverga Piccolo and grows almost exclusively near the village of Verduno, according to legend brought here by a friar in the 17th century who picked a plant of it in the Saluzzo area. The name comes from the union of the words "pela" and "verga," and is thought to refer to an ancient vine training technique. Pelaverga di Verduno is a nationally known vine and is unrelated to Pelaverga Grosso, which is purely used for the production of locally important wines and is characterized by a larger cluster and berries.

Il Pelaverga di Verduno viene anche chiamato Pelaverga Piccolo e cresce quasi esclusivamente nei pressi del paese di Verduno, secondo la leggenda portata qui da un frate nel XVII che ne raccolse una pianta nella zona di Saluzzo. Il nome deriva dall'unione delle parole "pela" e "verga", e si pensa che faccia riferimento ad un'antica tecnica di allevamento della vite.

Barolo Riserva takes its name from the Monvigliero hill on which the vineyards from which it is made are planted. The vines replanted in 1969 stand in the commune of Verduno at an altitude of 320 on white limestone-clay soil with southern exposure.
