Barolo Ravera Bricco Pernice takes its name from the place where partridges in love build their nests. This wine is the latest creation of the Cogno winery, the result of years of hard work and commitment. The project, born from Elvio's desire and brought to fruition by his son-in-law Valter, is based on a splendid vineyard located in the most historic area of cru Ravera, known for its exceptional vocation for Barolo and its unique microclimate. Barolo Bricco Pernice, which continues Elvio Cogno's story begun in La Morra, is part of the "Elvio Reserve" and represents the highest expression of his technical and stylistic teachings. This wine is distinguished by its enveloping softness, which simultaneously encapsulates the sweetness and power of Bricco Ravera. The label of Bricco Pernice is an artistic evolution of his daughter Elena, who today reinterprets this wine just as she did when she was three years old with the label of the Barolo dedicated to her.

Vigna Elena is a Barolo made from Nebbiolo grapes in the Rosè subvariety from a small vineyard with very low yields. Nebbiolo is the grape variety considered one of the best varieties in Italy and the world. It is a very ancient grape variety, and in some documents Pliny the Elder refers to Nebbiolo as "nubiola," nebbia in Latin, since the grapes ripen late and in autumn the hills of Piedmont where the vineyards are located are easily shrouded in fog. According to some, the name derives from the abundant flowering of this grape variety, making it appear to be bathed in fog. Nebbiolo grows mainly in Piedmont, Lombardy and Valle d'Aosta, and has always lived in very restricted and specific areas of these regions. It is a variety of which many genotypes have been hypothesized, but recent studies have identified only two, Nebbiolo Lampia, the most common, and Nebbiolo Rosé. Nebbiolo is characterized by a very small cluster and cylindrical shape, and it adapts very well to new territories. It grows best on low-fertile soils rich in clay and limestone in warm areas with excellent sun exposure because it is very sensitive to spring frost and autumn rains.
