Piedirosso, a name coined in the early 1900s, derives from the color of the vine stems, which are very similar to the red legs of pigeons. It is a very ancient grape, already Pliny the Elder mentions it, calling it Colombina because of this resemblance to the animal's legs. There are many biotypes of Piedirosso, and according to some studies it is closely related to Capettone, a vine that also grew for centuries in contact with Piedirosso, on the slopes of Vesuvius.

"Vigna Segreta" is made with only Falanghina grapes, a choice made by the winery owner to revalue the native grape varieties of the San'Agata dei Goti area in the province of Benevento. It is grown on the hilltop of the estate's southwest-facing hillside with strong summer sunshine. Winemaking has taken place for many years in underground tuff cellars located in the center of the village.

Aglianico is considered one of the oldest grapes in Italy, according to some it was already present at the time of the Roman Empire and was imported in the eighth century BC from Greece. One thesis about the origin of the name is that it comes from the Greek word "ellanic." There are no certain sources on the origins of the name, and according to other experts, Aglianico derives from the Spanish "llano" meaning plain, consequently "grape of the plains," the thesis is supported by the fact that the earliest records of Aglianico date back to the 16th century, shortly after the Spanish invasion of southern Italy. The shape of the cluster is pyramidal of small to medium size, compact with small round berries of a very intense blue-black color. The thick skin allows it to resist botrytis by allowing late harvesting since it is a slow-ripening grape that grows at altitudes of 600-700 meters.
