The Schiava Gentile vine is characterized by a medium-sized pyramidal cluster, not very compact with round berries whose size can vary even within the same cluster. It is a very hardy and vigorous variety, slightly susceptible to powdery mildew. From genetic studies, Schiava Gentile is similar to some Muscat varieties and is related to Lagrein.
Bright ruby red. Spices, red fruit jam, underbrush, coffee, chocolate. Full, warm, tannic, slightly bitterish.
