Neyret is an almost extinct grape variety found only between Arnad and Montjovet. Also called Neretto, DNA analysis has clarified that it is a variety distinct from other "Nerettos" found, for example, in Piedmont. It is a descendant of Rouge du Valais, which in turn is derived from Petite Rouge, Mayolet and Fumin. It has a medium-sized, cylindrical-shaped cluster with thick-skinned, blue-black berries.
