Ròche d'Ampsèj is made from Nebbiolo grapes grown in Canale in the Pecetto locality from an area called Rocche, hence the name of the wine, which in Italian means "Rocche di un Pecetto" . The soils consist mainly of yellow sands and silt, a special soil that in addition to vines allows the growth of Scots pine.
