The Moscato di Scanzo appellation includes the small area in the commune of Scanzorosciate, from which it takes its name. The vineyards stand on hillsides that have slopes between 50 percent and 100 percent on shallow, rocky soils. Vines have been cultivated in this area since Atestine times and continued with the Greeks, Celts and finally the Romans who founded the town of Scanzo. It was a family of centurions Scantii who gave the town its name.
