Malvasia Collio is produced from vineyards more than 50 years old that stand at the foot of Mount Quarin. The vineyards stand on soils composed of sandstone marl, locally called Ponka, and were planted when this grape variety was not highly regarded outside the borders of Collio and the Trieste area.
