Centesimino is a centuries-old grape variety that grows exclusively in Romagna around Oriolo. It was named in honor of "Centesimino" nickname of the man who discovered and saved this variety from extinction by finding a plant in the garden of a house in Faenza. It is a very vegetative variety, the leaves growing until a few days before harvest curbing grape production. It grows well in areas that are not too hot, it dehydrates very easily and this characteristic makes it perfect for producing sweet and passito wines.
